Description:

This is one of a series of investment projects at the Wildlife Park aimed at driving commercial income and financial sustainability. The luxury camping would offer the visitor the unique opportunity to experience the park, whilst building on the growing popularity for ‘glamping’. In keeping with Durrell’s environmental ethos, no cars are allowed in the area and there is no electricity in the domes, which are lit by gas lamps and any hot water needed is heated by the wood burning stove.

12 self-catered lodges fully equipped with individual shower and toilet facilities were provided in a landscaped area within the wildlife park. A communal lodge doubles up as a reception for guests.

Rowney Sharman provided architectural, cost and project management services for the camp which opened in 2012. We undertook the feasibility study and developed the business case ensuring the project could fulfil the clients aims.
