Key Roles: Client Representative, Project Manager, Relocation Manager
Sectors: Industrial
Location: St Helier, Jersey
Description:
The client’s aim was to implement an improved warehouse operations model through the relocation of their storage and distribution processes to a more suitable location, enabling the redevelopment of their current site - see Randalls Development Case Study.
The scope included the installation of 100 m x 8 m high bay bulky goods racking within the open warehouse area and 400 m of low level shelving racking on the mezzanine floors. The installation of an 8 m high division security wall between adjacent operators. Also included was the refurbishment and remodelling of office and welfare spaces, as well as the creation of a cask ale chilled storage room, installation of CCTV, security and Wi-Fi systems and the introduction of new warehouse stock control and paperless picking and dispatch technology.
In our role as client project manager, we advised the client on re-engineering business processes, logistics and warehouse management and spatial requirements for improved warehouse layouts. We undertook a market search for suitable properties, evaluated options and prepared feasibility reports for board consideration and approval and led the property heads of terms and lease negotiations.
The project timescales required a fast track agile working approach to ensure that business re-engineering ran in parallel with the project procurement, planning and delivery process.
Project budgeting, cost analysis and reporting was also provided throughout the project including project invoicing and supplier account management.
Daily migration planning was undertaken over a two week relocation process including hour by hour logistics management planning.
